OCTOBER: PUJA IYER, 12TH GRADE DIPLOMA STUDENT
This is Puja Iyer, October's student of the month for 12th grade. Not only does she exemplify the IB attribute of 'principled' but she also puts great effort into her extracurricular activities, as shown to the right. In doing so, she is not only establishing herself as a well rounded person, but also a thoughtful one who illustrates IB qualities and ideas.
Puja was selected for the IB principle of Principled. Principled means acting with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere and taking responsibility for…[his or her] actions and their consequences.
“Puja Iyer represents the IB standard of “Principled” because of the honest and forthright way she conducts herself. As an online student she completed all of her work early and took care to provide proof that the work was her own. She took extra steps to cite sources even on assignments when it wasn’t a requirement to do so. She demonstrated her knowledge in person and over Zoom in a way that proved her knowledge so we can confirm that her assessment work is her own. When confronting the group about academic honesty or testing policies, Puja always spoke in favor of greater accountability. She understands that only by proving everyone’s integrity can the truly great amongst them can be recognized. Puja is determined to demonstrate and propagate integrity through our program.”
Mr. Veenstra, IB History Teacher
“Puja consistently produces the best quality writing and work as opposed to the bare minimum that often is produced by other students. She is a model leader by example. And she is modest about her insights, skills, and achievements.”
Mr. Doherty, IB English Teacher
